My internet is still unstable and I get online once in awhile and this is utterly frustrating, I can’t read my mail nor can i chat with my family, I really hope that they make this line work soon.

Tales Of Ephidrina

Meanwhile i have rediscovered a buried treasure in my CD cabinet! All my old CD, everything from The Future Sound of london to The Beloved. One thing that strikes me when i rip my collection to iTunes is that all of my “best” albums are from 1990-94. I think the electronic musik bloomed that period of time.

There’s so many artists that i could mention; FSOL, The Orb, The Grid, The Beloved, everything from WARP Records. Mr. Richard H. Kirk, William orbit, Brian Eno and among many other amazing producers.

Now Playing Amorphous Androgynous this album is beautiful! I’m almost tempted to say that this is FSOL’s crown jewel.

One year before Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans released Lifeforms, their breakthrough album as Future Sound of London, the duo recorded Tales of Ephidrena as Amorphous Androgynous. Charting an intriguing fusion of industrial techno with the free-form organic passages that would become the norm in ambient techno several years later, Tales of Ephidrena was the first hint of what was to become the trademark sound of FSOL.

Named in displaced reference to a form of speed popular with late-night studio hounds, Ephidrina is probably the nearest the group have come to an even compromise between their ambient and dance pretensions, trading equally between lush, contemplative textures and upbeat, simplistic rhythmic structures. Enjoyable but by no means essential.
