My iMac’s led light appears to be broken
My iMac 24″ alu. has been locking up a lot lately I’m forced to hard-reset, and it’s suffering from video anomalies (thin horizontal noise lines, tear lines and moving windows leaves trailing repeats of the window.) Lines occur as early as the desktop at startup. Using Itunes or mail aggravates the problem.
I spoke to my local Apple dealer today, he suspected that it’s my iMac’s led light that has broken and he promised to replace it with a new one. My iMac is going in for repair tomorrow, i hope that the repair shop have the needed parts home so that they can repair my computer quickly as possible.
I never needed to repair my iMac, i did some some Googeling on the subject and found these excellent sites that helped me to get rid of my hounted ghosts on my iMac screen:
Apple Support: LCD displays
Lines on 24″ iMac Screen
Silver Mac
Silver Mac had the solution to my problems, I did just like he sugested, I downloaded Smc Fan Control and Shades And cranked up the fan some 20% and turned my native brightness to 100% and through Shades i lovered it to 60% using the white Jpg images as a Screen Saver, when I leave the computer for longer times i turn down Shades to minimum and run my Screen Saver from an active corner.
What the Shades does is applying a transparent layer the the app controls by changeing opacity on. My tip is to install Shade and make the White-Jpg Screen saver and lower the brightness to minimum and turn on the Screen Saver overnight to get rid of those artifacts on your screen, remeber disable your powersaving for the screen.
Good Luck! This worked 100% For me! And i learned that these spots, lines, or ghostings can not damage your iMac’s screen!
